BIOGRAPHY

Gennaro Rodríguez was born in Panama City in 1984. Throughout his life, Gennaro has been drawn to the colors, fashion design patterns, architectural design, and graphic design, which led him to study Architecture at the Universidad Santa María la Antigua in Panama.

After traveling to Europe, Gennaro was captivated by the cultural richness in architecture and the arts, which prompted him to start his artistic career. During his architecture career, Gennaro developed a strong attraction to painting, which marked the beginning of his artistic exploration with the intention of creating a visual impact.

Gennaro has showcased his work in various exhibitions in Panama, Guatemala, El Salvador, Mexico, and Colombia, with his most recent exhibition in October 2021 at the Habitante Gallery.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Through balanced and abstract compositions, lines accompany my work as elements of inspiration rooted in architecture. Driven to create a positive visual impact that elicits emotions, a sense of well-being, dynamism, and sparks conversation and discussion, my work is a reflection of my life through colors and shapes.

I use colors freely and with the intention of fostering continuous creative evolution. As an architect, I incorporate geometric elements inspired by architecture, design, and fashion to achieve an abstract composition of lines and volumes where everything connects in a subtle and balanced manner, always seeking visual harmony in a sea of modern and retro colors. I use acrylics and spray paint, creating a combination of techniques that bridge the traditional and the modern.

Fostering a vibrant relationship between my work and the viewers, one of discussion and imagination, allowing them to appreciate the forms and the various colors I use in each of my pieces, is as important as the creation of the artwork itself.

In each of my pieces, I include an image of my Dachshund as part of my signature, adding a personal and playful touch.
